One Part Scissors recently completed an internal launch for Rand Merchant Bank called Nova Innovation. The project was done in collaboration with Michael Phillip.

RMB Nova Innovation is an internal mechanism designed to encourage innovative ideas. Any RMB employee who has an idea that can benefit the bank can submit their idea to the Nova intranet site. They must illustrate benefits and show how they plan to implement their idea, and their managers and peers will vote on the ideas. At the end of the year, the Innovations with the highest votes win substantial cash prizes.

The awareness and educational launch campaign made use of innovative channels to further underscore the message of Innovation.

The Tea Ladies were ‘branded’ with t-shirts, branded coffee cup tags and coffee cup collars and posters on their trolleys.

Posters were modeled on the usual ‘for sale’ type flyers that can be found on notice boards near water coolers, with the message “Innovators wanted”, complete with tear-off “I will innovate” tags that have the website address on them.

The Nova project is structured to have ‘Champions’ that can promote the project to their colleagues within their departments and business units. These Nova Champions were equipped with a Champions Toolkit that contains resources to assist them in promoting Nova. This includes branded post-it notes, whiteboard stickers with innovation messages, desk-drop flyers and posters, and digital resources such as email invitations and powerpoint templates.

On launch day, all RMB employees found a promotional ‘cheque’ to promote the project – a tactile illustration of the prize on offer.

Lastly, wall mounted decals were places in interesting and unusual locations to spark the imagination and draw attention.

Other elements of the Nova launch campaign include a comic book, featuring a Nova Superhero that will illustrate the process to the employees of RMB. The comic book is due to be released in the next 2 – 3 weeks.

One Part Scissors has completed work on the Signage Production Studio website.

The website has an intensely minimal design, with large areas of white space offsetting areas of content. The homepage features a strip of images which is dynamically called from the projects and services sections of the website, ensuring the home page is always up to date.

Finding information on the site is extremely easy, with the large, clear images capturing the various offerings. Signage Production Studio did the signage for OPS in August 2009. The services section of the website features large image icons for each service, to assist visitors in finding the type of service they would like to know more about – spotting an image is often easier than using text links where one is unfamiliar with industry jargon.

The website is built on a a robust content management system, which allows Signage Production Studio to quickly and easily upload photos of recently completed projects and information regarding new services.

One Part Scissors has just completed the logo design for Citi-Con Service

Citi-Con Services undertakes the rejuvenation of buildings in city centres. This involves refurbishing the buildings and renewing the work environment. Some providers of these services carry out their work in a very distruptive and messy fashion, but Citi-Con seeks to do the work with a minimal impact on the environment and the workplace they are refurbishing.

Citi-Con consulted Andrew Brough Communications to establish the direction for the newly formed company’s brand. The outcome of this process was that the brand had to exudes a cleanliness, best described by a doctor’s hand in it’s glove – representing the almost surgical approach to it’s work. One Part Scissors has created a brand that represents these values, while keeping the logo extremely minimal and easy to read from great distances away, and the strong eco-friendly focus of the brand is communicated by the brilliant green colours.

OPS is continuing the work of establishing the brand, with website and brochures already underway.

One Part Scissors is working with Signage Production Studio to formulate a complete Corporate Identity for the new company. One Part Scissors worked closely with in-house designers at SPS to arrive at the logo in it’s final form.

Benchmark Signs is a corporate identity project manager working on some of the largest signage projects in the country – from ACSA airport wayfinding signage, to stadium signage and branding on massive hotels and shopping centres.

One Part Scissors refreshed Benchmark’s website to have a modern look-and-feel. More important is the ability for the company to add images of their high-profile projects as they are completed. The role of the website is to communicate information about the company, and assure prospective clients that Benchmark can handle the scale of their projects. Seeing images of the recently completed projects on the home page is all the assurance they need.
