<p>The website OPS built for BOBCAT has a bold, heavy-duty feel using the intense colours of the brand &#8211; red, black, and white. The background is textured to give the website a &#8216;real world&#8217; feel.</p>

<p>The BOBCAT SA website is built on the excellent Drupal content management system, which allows BOBCAT the ability to quickly and easily keep the website up to date. The site is set up in such a way that new products can be added to the product library quickly and easily.</p>

<p>One Part Scissors continues to assist GodFirst in keeping their website up to date on a monthly basis, but the website theme was beginning to look dated, and the time was right to give the website a complete refresh.</p>

<p>Having being built on the excellent Drupal Content Management System meant that the update was relatively quick and painless &#8211; all the previous content was retained, which allowed us to create a visually striking theme, and focus on the usability of some key sections of the website &#8211; such as the hugely popular resources centre.</p>

<p>Along with adding usability features such as search and an easier to navigate menu, we created a &#8216;Big Footer&#8217; for the bottom of the website. This new trend in web design allows for all the links on the website to be viewed at a glance &#8211; making finding a specific page very easy. This footer begins to act as a site map for people who are new to the site or lost &#8211; and allows search engines to quickly index all the pages on the website.</p>

<p>Blue Horizon Licensing approached One Part Scissors to create a new website that better reflected the company on the Internet.</p>
<p>Blue Horizon Licensing manages the licensing for several brands in the Mattel stable, including Barbie, Hot Wheels, and Monster High. The website has a strong Blue Horizon identity, but the pages with info on the various brands carries the brand&#8217;s look-and-feel through to the pages, giving the site additional colour and interest.<br />

<p>Vagabond Vintage create vintage inspired decor and interior items. One Part Scissors was tasked with creating an identity for the new business, as well as a website and online shop.</p>
<p>The logo is inspired by Audrey Hepburn, a style icon and inspiration to the Vagabond Vintage founder. The mascot of Vagabond Vintage is a sheep, and the owners of Vagabond Vintage have a house sheep as a pet, which will feature on the soon-to-be-launched website.</p>
<p>The typeface is inspired by vintage french signage, giving it a soft and feminine feel.</p>
<p>Stay tuned for the launch of <a href="http://vagabondvintage.co.za" target="_blank">vagabondvintage.co.za</a> later this month.</p>

<p>The Solace identity is stylish and modern, and a total departure from the usual massage website, featuring the same old stock images of a person with hot stones on their back. The Solace website&#8217;s textured, earthy feel combines with the dramatic sketched image of the elegant woman to create a look and feel that is current and interesting.</p>

<p>The website makes use of Google Maps technology to assist people in finding their way to the venue, and the excellent Drupal content management system takes care of SEO requirements and makes updating the website fast and dead simple.</p>

<p>A Facebook presence is a vital part of any online strategy today. From all the clients who currently have a Facebook presence, we are seeing roughly a third of all visitors finding the company&#8217;s corporate website via Facebook. The way in which a brand can interact with it&#8217;s public on Facebook is the way forward – emails are being ignored more and more due to the high number of spam messages the average user contends with on a daily basis &#8211; and so the &#8216;opt-in&#8217; and very much less aggressive nature of the Facebook connection makes it popular with users.</p>
<p>A Facebook user can &#8220;like&#8221; your page, and then any news from your company gets added to their daily news stream, allowing them to read the headlines, and decide if they wish to find out more.</p>

<p>One Part Scissors has recently created marketing materials for shelving inside the Makro stores, to inform the customer and promote the OSRAM range of products.</p>
<p>Studies completed by OSRAM internationally have shown that even consumers who deem themselves to be very comfortable buying lights &#8220;often buy the wrong lamp type&#8221;. This is due to the wide range of options, bases, and light colours available. Added to this is the challenge of moving people away from traditional lighting options towards energy-saving options such as LED, compact fluorescent and other energy saving solutions.</p>
<p>OPS created a range of info panels to stand next to the products which informs the customer on the varieties of base types, the lamp colours, and the energy saving benefits available in other products.</p>
<p>The info boards are already in place at Makro Woodmead, and will begin rolling out to other locations shortly.</p>

<p>One Part Scissors was approached by House of Print to redesign their corporate website.<br />
House of Print is one of the largest print houses in South Africa, and their old website was dated and no longer portrayed an accurate picture of the company.</p>

<p>The website is built on the versatile Drupal content management system, and the design of the website allows House of Print to add new background images that will change the personality of the website when their current &#8220;Think Ink&#8221; campaign ends. The &#8220;Think Ink&#8221; campaign makes use of high quality photography of people with ink and paint photoshopped cleverly into the images. The website selects a new random background image for every page you visit, ensuring that visitors will see as many of the images as possible.</p>

<p>The contacts section makes use of Google Maps and a Google Street View block to assist people in finding their way to House of Print.</p>

Following the <a href="http://onepartscissors.com/2011/04/sbsonline-info.html">revamp of the Southern Business School website earlier this year</a>, One Part Scissors created a Facebook App for the school that allows students at the school to &#8216;check-in&#8217; and broadcast to their friends and colleagues what they are studying at Southern Business School.</p>
<p>The goal of this is two-fold; for the students, it allows them to let their friends, family, and colleagues know what they are studying, and give them an opportunity to send a word of encouragement by liking the story in the Facebook News Feed, or commenting on it with a message to encourage the student. For the school, this app acts as a viral mechanism for spreading the name of the school through the social media &#8211; when a student makes use of the Facebook Check-in app, it adds a news story to their feed and the news feeds of their friends on Facebook, drawing people&#8217;s attention to the school &#8211; with a quick and ready link to the website.</p>
<p>This will drive traffic to the website, and ultimately help in marketing the school to new prospective students.</p>

<h3><strong><em>What is a &#8216;Check-in&#8217;?</em></strong></h3>
<p><em>According to <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Check-in#Social_check-in" target="_blank">Wikipedia</a>,</em></p>
<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;Many social networking services, such as Foursquare, Google Latitude, Facebook, Gowalla, and Brightkite allow users to &#8220;check in&#8221; to a physical place and share their location with their friends.</em></p>
<p><em>Users can check in to a specific location by text messaging or by using a mobile application on a smartphone&#8211;the application will use the phone’s GPS to find the current location.</em></p>
<p><em>Many applications have a “Places” button or tab where a user can see a list of nearby places into which the user can check in. If a location is not on the nearby places list, the user can add the location directly from the phone. Once a user has checked in, they have the option of sharing their location with friends in services such as Twitter or Facebook&#8221; </em></p></blockquote>
<p><em>For the purpose of this app, the student isn&#8217;t checking in to a physical space, but rather checking in to their course. But the logic is the same, as is the end goal &#8211; spreading the message of what they are doing to their friends.</em></td>

<h3>How the SBS Facebook Check-in App works</h3>

<em><strong>Step 1:</strong> The student visits the website, and when they click the check-in button, they are asked to select the  course they are studying.<br />
